The Government of Azerbaijan has prepared a Regional Connectivity and Development Projectwith financing from the World Bank. The Regional Connectivity and Development Project aims to improve road connectivity and markets accessibility along sections of the Salyan-Bilasuvar corridor which follow the original alignment of the M3 road. The RCDP will build on the substantial improvements already completed by the Governmentof Azerbaijan to enhance the capacity and quality of the road network leading to higher mobility, reliability, and safety.
The total length of this road section is 71 km. The existing road largely complies with the dimensional requirements for a Category II road, although not entirely. The pavement is generally in poor condition with multiple defects, and five river/canal bridges along the route are also in need of repair.
The Project Commencement date was the 25th of August 2022 and completed in 24th of August 2024. The price of the Civil Works Contract was 112,983,558.06 AZN (66,460,916.51 USD).
